Hygge Wellness and beauty

Hygge Wellness is a commercial and interior design project for an aesthetics and wellness studio. Its guiding concept is the Danish word hygge, which describes a feeling of cosiness, comfort, safety and well-being. Every design decision, from the plan to the smallest detail, was measured against that sensation.

The space is organised as a continuous sequence: a sculpted reception counter clad in white ceramic, a lounge with soft, organic seating, and dedicated areas for hair, manicure and pedicure arranged around olive trees in fluted timber planters. Light oak, mineral lime-textured walls, arched niches, bouclé fabrics and warm, layered lighting complete a calm and welcoming atmosphere.

The main challenge was to fit a full range of beauty and wellness services into a single commercial unit with all its inherent limitations: a restricted floor area, existing partitions, and fixed water and electrical points.

Each treatment has distinct technical requirements, from water supply and drainage for pedicure to task lighting for nail work and power for styling stations. These had to be distributed functionally without fragmenting the space or losing the sense of openness and comfort that defines the concept.

Through careful zoning and the strategic use of floor levels, furniture and light instead of walls, all services were accommodated in a fluid, legible layout. A raised timber platform with a concealed light edge defines the pedicure area, while the olive-tree styling island anchors circulation at the centre of the plan.

The result is a space that unites aesthetics, well-being and comfort, where clients feel at ease from the moment they arrive and the brand is expressed through atmosphere rather than decoration.
